Last Saturday, we planned a trip to the Nehru planetarium and science center in Worli and Lower Parel. It was the last weekend of the Christmas vacation. I had pre-booked a planetarium show at 12 in the afternoon. It is also recommended on their website to pre-book at least a day in advance. If you want an English show specifically, it is better to book 2 days in advance, especially during holidays and vacations. We went with the Hindi show since the English one was almost fully booked when I checked. It is very easy to book on their website and the ticket can be shown on the phone. Anyway, we left home after breakfast around 9:10 am. We got a bus to reach Thane station before 9:30 am. We reached Thane station a little after 10 am and booked tickets for CST local. Many local trains have Thane and CST as start and end stations so it is easier to get in and out. Since it was a weekend, the rush was a little less. A special Gujarati meal - Chana bataka nu shaak (black chickpeas and potato curry), Gujarati Kadhi

I have a special place in my heart for gujarati food. Having tasted authentic home-cooked gujarati food, I have very high standards when it comes to eating gujarati food. In my experience, it is very difficult to get the gujju taste outside of Gujarat. Although here in the US, gujarati food in Atlanta does come close to meeting my standards. I haven't tasted the food since a couple of years so I hope this still holds true. Today's lunch thali of chana bataka nu shaak (black chickpeas and potato curry) and kadhi with rotis and rice is a special combo where everything goes so well together. These recipes make me feel I am back in Gujarat eating a homely meal. Chana Bataka nu Shaak Black Chickpeas and potatoes are cooked in a sweet spicy gravy thickened with besan. Day trip to Save farms - Tarpa in Gholvad, Dahanu

We visited Save farms way back in March after my daughter's final exam for the school year when my parents had come down to visit us. It was the perfect season to visit the farm. The farm full of trees kept us cool from the March sun. One of our favorite fruits, chikoo was also in season. I reckon December-March would be good months to enjoy the farm. They have this beautiful website with all the details about the farm. It is mainly a chikoo orchard but it has lots of other variety of trees too. This farm is one of my happy places. Trees, nature, farms, forests..you get the drift, these places replenish my soul. Unique trees Before I get carried away into poetic language, let's begin at the beginning ;) of the trip, ofcourse.
